I forgot to post some pictures from our trip to Kauai in December.  I didn't want to come back to Cheyenne and that's for sure.  It was like visiting the garden of eden.  I never felt hot or cold, just right and the air felt great on your skin.  I would have liked to some more hiking and exploring, but the kids didn't want to do that stuff.  We stayed at a nice resort that the kids really enjoyed. 

Elk hunting/backpacking

I spent 2 nights last week elk hunting.  My friend Jason and I backpacked in to get away from all the atv's and road hunters.  We enjoyed 2 beautiful fall days hunting and backpacking.  The good weather however, made for poor hunting. 
I had a great time and got to see some amazing stars at night without any moon.  My tent was at the top of a very steep canyon. 
Hiking around I found a deer skull that a lion had eaten.  I also found several elk skulls that lucky hunters in previous years had harvested. 

Isaac's first hunt

Isaac loves antelope steaks so I told him he needed to go hunting.  He got his hunter's safety 18 months ago.  I have been taking him to the gun range to practice and he drew an antelope tag this year.  He does not like the outdoors, but I promised him we would try one day only.  After missing  3 different antelope he finally connected on a close shot.  He said he actually enjoyed it.  Time will tell if he will try it again.
