Organic Meat

In October I was able to get a small elk.  The meat has been very tasty as well as healthy.  I was by myself and had to pack him out in quarters.  It took all day because I got him almost 2 miles off the road.

Archery Elk Hunt 2013

I went hunting with my friend Jason again for elk with our bow and arrows.  We found an area of forest service that they have closed off the dirt roads.  We came up with the idea to take our mountain bikes in there with our bike trailers.  We rode in 4 miles and set up camp right on the old road.  We had a great time and saw, heard, and smelled many elk, but didn't get one.  The last night it got really cold(15 degrees), so it was a challenge just to stay warm.  We left early due to the weather.

More Scout camp

Isaac and his friend Edward paddled their canoe 3 miles to the upper end of New Fork Lake and spent the night on the ground with just their sleeping bag.  I left that night so I didn't get to do this with them.(I guess it rained all night, but they made it until morning)

Isaac's first scout camp June 2013

I took Isaac to scout camp last June.  The camp is New Forks Lake camp.  It is located in the Wind Rivers with the closest town being Pinedale, Wyoming.  I spent 2 nights there with him to make sure he would be okay.
The troop arrived there a day early, so we took a hike to the headwaters of the Green River in the Wind Rivers. The lake is beautiful, and also there is a great view of square top mountain.  I have wanted to see that view ever since I moved to Wyoming 6 years ago.

Family Green River Summer 2013

I was backing up my camera and found some pictures from this year.  I didn't realize that I had not posted them, so I will put some on the blog.
We did our second annual trip to the Green River and the weather was not a good as we had hoped.  We spent one of the days in Vernal at the dinosaur museum because of the rain.   We did however have a couple of floats down the river and all three kids caught their own fish.
